"Born from clay and shaped by heritage, this organic bloom reflects my home, a symbol of belonging, resilience, and the perspectives that define identity and peace."

Artist Statement
Creating a live belonging—a piece that captures the spirit of home—was the original idea behind this concept. I have a strong connection to the valley of flowers, where I belong, using clay as the base and a flower as the shape. The organic shape represents development, change, and individuality by reflecting the stages of a flower’s bloom.
For me, home is a memory, shaped by both good and bad experiences. It is a collection of roots, emotions, and connections that tie me to my past and identity. However, home is different for everyone, as each person carries their own unique story
Synopsis
Clay sculpture, inspired by the Saffron Flower, embodies belonging, identity, and cultural heritage. This work, which comes from Jammu and Kashmir, the largest saffron-growing region in the world, captures the spirit of community and enduring customs. For me, home is about establishing connections and overcoming differences while maintaining one’s individuality.
People in Australia, a multicultural country, have distinct worldviews. Similar to identity itself, the organic shape of my sculpture allows for several interpretations and changes based on one’s position. In India, saffron is deeply symbolic of power and togetherness and is used as an emblem of bravery on the national flag. I have, however, carved it in white to symbolize the tranquility that has been lost in my country as a result of terrorism. Our life’ fading hues motivated me to use art as a means of achieving peace and optimism. This work offers a universal narrative by fusing art, culture, and personal history. By connecting via similar feelings, it inspires viewers to regard it as a part of their own ancestry. Similar to the saffron flower, which thrives in spite of hardship, my sculpture is a quiet but potent plea for resilience, serenity, and belong
